In need of a good liquid and powder foundation for acne prone skin.?
I hate to agree with the grouch before me, but shes right. ive had hideously pimply skin for like 8 years now and ive tried just about every kind of makeup out there the only thing that doesnt bother my skin too much is simple pressed face powder. i would reccomend covergirl =]I have very oily/acneic skin. I love Bare Escentuals Mineral powder foundation. It is so light, and you can always use a little concealer if you need. I also use MAC studio fix powder foundation for a little extra coverage. You can use liquid foundation, just be sure to wash it off before bed. I use MAC liquid foundation (sparingly) a little really goes a long way, and you definitely want to set it with some type of powder.use brands like Neutrogena. they have a specific one for people that suffer with acne. but the thing you need to remember is to not touch up so much throughout the day because that is what clogged pores. re apply makeup half way through the day, washing your face completely before doing so and use rice paper to blot away oil in between time. =]
Mac green gel cleanser is the best investment in face wash you could ever make so i strongly recommend that! This webpage gives advice based on people’s questions. This is her advice for oily skin and foundation:
Choose noncomedogenic and oil-free foundations. You may even want to try one that contains salicylic acid. The "type" of foundation is important – try oil-free liquid or cream-to-powder formula. If you’re only oily in the T-zone, try using an oil absorbent lotion under your makeup in the oily areas. A product I like is Clinique’s Acne Solutions Daytime Shield. Foundations brands best for your skin type: Clarins Oil-Free Multi-Matte Foundation, Chanel Double Perfection Matte Reflecting Makeup SPF 15, and Clinique Clarifying Makeup Clear Skin.
One trick a dermatologist taught me is dusting corn starch all over your face after your makeup is applied, it works great to absorb oil and your skin feels great
Good luck. The key is to buy an oil-free foundation. MAC makes some really good water-based and silicone-based liquid foundations. Virtually every drug-store brand of foundation is bad news, because all the preservatives and chemicals drastically increase the chances of you getting bad acne. Department store brands with more natural ingredients, like Stila, are good bets as well.I also have acne/oily prone skin and I was using Merle Norman Ultra Lasting Foundation and powder and I really like it but I didn’t seem to last long enough and I just recently tried out Revlons Colorstay foundation and really like it! It is kinda tricky to apply but once you get the hang of it it’s really nice. It covers my existing acne very well and has not created any new ones. I am still using the Ultra Lasting powder over it for now until it runs out. Also the best way I have found so far for me to apply the colorstay is to use a damp makeup sponge and basically use the stippling method all over I don’t rub it at all. It takes a bit longer but I really love the finished look.i’m in love with Revlon’s Colourstay Liquid Foundation.
i swear by it, really.
it covers well. it’s affordable. it’s available for both oily&combination skin and normal&dry skin.
for your case, i would recommend using the one for oily&combination as it will look matte and definitely oil free ;]
Marlena, MakeupGeekTv, has a great review on this foundation too.
Hope this helps.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u11exF8iEAAWe’re in the same boat, I too have acne prone/oily skin and Sephora double compact mineral powder foundation. It’s great and works for me.
Lorac oil-free, wet/dry powder and Clinique Clarifying Powder Makeup are also good.i have senstive acne prone skin that always breaks out abd theres nothing can do about it……foundations always make it worse but i finally found one htat works………i use almay clear complexion liquid makeup with their pure blends translucent powder over it……the foundation is light but covers good enough and the powder is translucent and sets the makeup but also doesnt add any extra color that can ruin the foundation…..the foundation is oil free and contains a little acne mediaction in it and the powder doesnt contain talc or anything of that sort that can irritate ur skin…..and to the person that said revlon colorstay….i wouldnt recamend it because it can feel heavy and maa ne too unatural looking ….esoecailly if u have lighter skin……it also gave me underneith the skin pimplesyou should look into Dinair Airbrush Makeup if ur up for other options..ive been using it the past 2 years and i LOVE it…it covers everything and makes my skin look flawless…its also all water based so it just sits on the surface of my skin and doesnt clog my pores…they also have this stuff u can put on under ur makeup that absorbs and gets rid of oil as its produced…anywho…hope i helped..=)ok i have the same problem try make up forever i have oily skin and acne with acne scars. makeup forever hd is high definition meaning in pictures you will come out looking way better and more natural. The full cover concealer is for tattoos which is great on my acne scars. The HD makeuup forever foundation is good for oily/ acne prone skin IVE never had any problems with it and i can swear by them. You can get it at sephora its 40 dollars but its worth the money and you can try it out first and then get your money back. I got my foundation in febuary and I need to get a refill in december thats how long this foundation has lasted. You only need 1 or 2 pumps to do your entire face. To stop oilyness first get a good exfoliator like st. IVES blackhead and blemish control all of the ingredients in this are natural and good for you. Then get another creamyer cleanser that just cleans the top of your skin. Then get a moisturizer that wont clog pores you need to read the ingredients usually the drug store ones will put it on the label will not clog pores. Liquid is great for my skin because i like the coverage powder only stays on top of my skin and i constantly have to reapply it. Make up forever is oil free im pretty sure and if you want more info in sephora .com they list all the ingredients in the page of the product. ohh and a little oil is good for you. just avoid touching your face alot and change your diet and youll see the oil can get under control. it has to do alot with what you eat and your genes too. For example im allergic to pork based products and peanut based products because they contain things inside of them they give me pimples (they have oils). You will see your skin will clean up and the foundation is awesomes.
