What type of acne treatment should i use if i dont have oily skin but i have severe acne?

December 31, 2008

First set up an appointment with your dermotologist and have him or her talk to you about your concerns. Later before you leave she can recommend the different treatment options and discuss the cost for each perscription or medicine for your acne. The best home treatment is to if you can head to a spa and get 30 minute facial treatments for yourself. You should keep up with them if you can to ensure a beautiful and healthy looking face. If you cant afford these spa treatments (and they arent just for girls may I add) A good tip is to use a good cleanser for your face at least twice a day and make sure you are keeping up with your skin. Its important to you so why not get yourself the treatment you need.Go to www.excesslife.com and click on "beauty". Near the bottom-center part of the page there is a "Free Skin Assessment" you can take. It should help answer your question. You may have to register as a client, but that's free and only takes a minute.

Hope that helps!

IS ACNE AN EARLY SIGN OF PREGNANCY!?

December 30, 2008

No, usually your skin gets better, clearer. Your blood volume increases by 40% when you're pregnant, which improves circulation to your skin and helps keep your skin lovely and "glowing".

What does it really take to have a acne free face??!!!!?

December 30, 2008

There is alot of things that im figuring out helps acne. Such as steaming your face under a towel with a big bowl of hot water , putting toothpaste over the pimples or vinegar over them as well , changing your pillowcase every night , going outside for fresh air and sunshine , scrubbing your face every morning and night, rubbing salt on your face for 30 seconds then taking it off with warm water. Also there are things called Oxy Pads you can buy you use them morning and night and they really seem to help, you can try pro active too it might help and Clearasil or neutrogena stuff. hope it all helps. :]I'm a thirteen year old girl that has moderate acne so I know what you mean.

It's annoying and it's ugly but it takes patience to get rid of.
I had it bad about a year ago but since then I started eating healthier!
Exterior hygiene is important as well as interior, which is what matters.

Some people are just stuck with acne.
If you are seeing a derm, and are on medication and still have acne,
it could be genes. Like some people eat healthy but if they have a fat family, they're more likely to be fat. Or have a bigger bone structure. Lmao, I know that had nothing to do with this but it's true and it makes sense.

But seriously, sometimes it'll take years to clear up.
Just keep doing what you're doing - and wash your face everyday.
It'll eventually dissapear.

Where do I get Bio Oil, Mederma and Cocoa Butter from?

December 30, 2008

Bio-Oil:

http://www.drugstore.com/qxp165709_333181_sespider/bio_oil/scar_treatment.htm

Mederma:

Cocoa Butter you can get from a store in your locality. I'm sure you can get the rest from a local drugstore, but I've never heard of them except for the cocoa butter.

Acne problem please help!!!? = /?

December 30, 2008

It might be brought on by stress. maybe try relaxing a little bit more. i use the neutrogena wave, it works awesome! my skin is clear and smooth. try that. if nothing else is working try talking to a dermatologist and they should get you a medication or treatment to help your skin. whatever you do dont pick or pop the acne. it will just leave scars.i had acne and when i went away like to a beach or somewhere it cleared up too, my mom said that its the salt water from beaches… And i think that really is what it is… Try washing your face with some sea salts k :)You could try seeing a dermatologist. Or look up ways to reduce stress (ex. yoga or something). Perhaps it is ur diet. Also sunshine can reduce the appearance of acne temporarily, but in the long run it makes acne worse, so stay out of the sun or at least wear sunscreen. I'm not into the natural remedies, I use the Spectro Acne Care system.

Long winded answer:

What is acne? The simple answer is clogged pores. Your skin has very tiny holes (called pores) that are used to expell substances from the body, such as oil and sweat and such. A pimple is formed when these pores become clogged due to a build up of dead cells, bacteria, oil, etc. Proper skin care removes these clogs and prevents them from forming again. Acne has multiple causes and it takes 3-4 weeks for new skin cells/pimples to develop (so it takes this long for an acne treatment to work).

Poor Diet. The skin is the body's largest ORGAN and when you put bad stuff in ur body, it is reflected by all ur organs, especially ur skin. Drink plenty of water and eat fresh fruits/vegetables and switch to whole grains (ex. brown bread, brown rice). REALLY lower your intake of salty or sugary foods, this means NO junk food (no chocolate bars, no soda, no fast food, etc.).

Poor Skin Care. You need 3-4 products to rid urself of acne and must use them in the following order. Do this 1-2 times a day (ex. morning and night), no more and no less.
1. Cleanser (a jel or scrub). Wet your hands and face, lather up the product in ur hands, GENTLY rub in CIRCULAR motions with ur FINGERTIPS all over ur face. Rinse off with water and PAT ur face dry with a CLEAN towel.
2. Toner. Use the pre-soaked pads or squirt some toner on a cotton pad and very gently wipe ur entire face with it. It is VERY important to ALWAYS tone after washing.
3. Treatment (Optional). Some lineups offer a cream heavy in ingredients that kill the bacteria causing acne, such as salicylic acid.
4. Moisturizer. Regardless of ur skin type, moisturizing is VERY important. Pick a moisturizer that is oil free, non-comedogenic (this means it won't clog pores and won't cause acne, if you wear make up such as blush or concealer, MAKE SURE IT IS non-comedogenic!).
—-> I reccomend the Spectro Acne Care line up as it cured my acne and has all 4 of the products I mentioned above.

Other Causes. Stress is a cause, so do what you can to reduce it. Touching ur skin with ANYTHING, even ur hands, is BAD! The friction from rubbing ur skin irritates it and causes acne flare ups, not to mention the bacteria ur introducing to ur skin and pores. The golden rule, do NOT EVER touch ur face or other areas affected by acne. This means no resting ur chin on ur hands and no tucking the phone between ur ear/face and neck. Exercise can help with acne, as long as you wash up afterwards and don't let the sweat remain on ur skin. Exercise releases good chemicals in ur body (ex. it can help with stress/anxiety) and opens/clears ur pores. Try doing morning stretches?

Acne problems!! please help?

December 30, 2008

I'm 39 yrs old and STILL get acne! The ONLY product that works for me is something called Acnefree and you can find it at Target or WalMart. I've tried Proactiv as well and it also didn't work for me. Acnefree was an absolute life saver for me! It may have the salicylic acid in it or benzoyl peroxide though. It may not be "good" for your skin but neither is constant acne which can leave scars. You don't say how old you are but I am assuming you are a teen. Poor you, I am 28 and I still have it because it's hormonal. The best thing you can do is eat healthily, exercise, be happy (seriously!), try not to get stressed, drink plenty of water, remove your make up (mineral make up is good for not clogging pores) every night and use facial products that don't strip your skin of oil. Neutrogena is quite a gentle range. If you're 16 or above you could consider Dianette which is a mini contraceptive pill but one of the side effects means that your skin improves. Talk with your doctor and Dad and maybe ask to be referred to a dermatologist and tell them about what you have done to improve your skin and ask for help. There are a lot of myths about acne, it's hard sifting through the rubbish, so that's why you should consult a professional, chin up, lots of people experience it.
Good luck xAs it looks like you've learned, proactiv doesn't work very well.

The only real answer is to see a dermatologist. You'll be surprised how well taking a pill once a day works compared to the extensive routine of using irritating creams and washes worked.

Ask for erythromyacin. The only down side is that it doesn't work forever, your body will get used to it eventually and it won't have any effect. The good news is that, at least for me, that meant ten years of very minimal acne. After 10 years I was twenty six and it became obvious the pill wasn't working as well as it used to. The good news is that at 26 (I'm 29 now) I had significantly less acne than I did when I was 16 and over the counter creams can combat that acne pretty well.

How do I bring up my problem with my boyfriends acne without hurting his feelings?

December 30, 2008

Talk to him nicely at first, and say something like "Aww… wow you've been getting a lot of scar, maybe I can try and fix that, let me put on some coco butter on those scar so it can go away" than you can bring up the acne too and say that you should also take care of that before he get any more scar, use the scar as an excuse, alway find a nice excuse, its pretty easy, if you 2 are true lovers I don't see how he can get upset or offended by that :P

Make sure you buy coco butter, I really don't know where they sell those, last time I use that was last year.as a high school teacher, I face this problem. I usually tell my students that I use oxy pads and give them a canister to try.
The new proactive medication is considered to be even better. I would simply say that I use this product and it works for me so I thought he would like to try it also. That does not make the subject emotionally sensitive and works very well. To date, no one has turned me down and the results are rewarding.if he had an infection on his arm how would you deal with that?
if you know of a way to rid him of his acne. it could be changing his diet, it could be stress, or he needs antibiotics and all those things.
just tell him you feel bad for him and you'd like to help him find ways to cope with it. peaceWell here's the question I must ask you first.

Do you want to talk to him about his acne cause you care about his health, or is it because it discusses you and you don't want someone with acne, what is it?

You should always love someone because of their heart. If their love for you is strong and you can feel it when you're near him. I hope you have same kind of love otherwise. Good luck getting out of that one…

- SPECIAL ED C.A.OMGOSH my boyfriend has the same problem and we are around your age tooo!!!! my boyfriend has it bad and i mean realll bad he even gets it on his scalp which is weird i know but all of this acne causes him to complain about it like if i touch his face he will say ouch and so i try and tell him that if its bothering him so much why doesnt he get lazer surgery to remove it. I tell him it doesnt bother me but it will ease his pain.

OMgosh i never had anyone who had the same problem as me so i hope this helps :)
