What is the best product to fade acne scars?

Some of our users respond:

Take a few mint leaves and crush them. Tie these crushed leaves in a piece of muslin cloth and extract juice. Use it all over your face. It’s a very good home remedy for acne scars.

Numerous companies make a lot of money persuading people to buy products that at worst will make the acne worse, and at best may help some people a little. Often fewer products are better. People often make their acne much worse by using too many products. There really is no quick fix for acne. Don’t spend a lot of money on products just because their ads say that they will cure acne. Your doctor is the best person to ask for help, and he or she may recommend some prescription medication or non-prescription treatment that may be suitable for you..

There are some very simple and basic things you can do that cost nothing. Keep your face or any other area affected by acne very clean. Any mild antibacterial soap will help with that. Rinse the area well to remove all soap residue. Drink plenty of water ; it really does help to clear up acne. Eat a nutritious diet and get enough sleep. A healthy life style will make a difference. Try to reduce the stress in your life ;stress contributes to acne, so also probably the more you worry about the acne and focus on it, the worse it will be.

Probably the most useful and effective things you can do are to apply hot compresses to pustules and cysts and never to pick or squeeze pimples. Playing with or popping pimples, no matter how careful and clean you are, nearly always makes bumps stay redder and bumpier longer.

I think neutrogena is more for the reappearing of new acne. To get rid of the scars you should use a product called hydroquinone, you can buy this over the counter it reallly helps with acne scars. for a a higher percentage youll have to go to your dermatologist, but its really worth it.I’ve been seeing in stores—Walgreens and Target, etc.— a new product called acne pock mark remover—it’s in the face care area, I can’t remember who makes it, it’s in an orange-like box. If you want, you can give that a try. Also, try using some Bio-Oil everyday to smooth/even out skin—I just started and I already can see improvement myself.Several it depends on your personal needs any consultant would be happy to help you pick what is best for you.

Struggling with acne scars, try these solutions from some of our members!

Try bio-oil, its really good for scars and stretch marks, i have been using bio-oil on my 12 inch scar on my head which i am very paranoid about and have been for the last 18 years and since i started using it about 3 months ago i have noticed a change. It isn’t as noticeable as it was, it is about $8 from any pharmacy for a bottle. The bottle is not big but if you use it right it lasts!

Rosewater with an equal amount of honey or rubbing garlic clove several times a day helps to reduce the acne scars. You can also wash your face with an avocado mixed in water or rinse your face with saturate lettuce leaves many times a day.

You could go to a beauty salon and have specialised facials once a month or even weekly depending on the severity. Your beauty therapist will chose products according to your skin type and will provide advice on what products you should be using at home. It’s very important to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturise. By exfoliating, it reveals new skin and makes your skin rejuvenate faster and allows your moisturiser to be absorbed more efficiently. I know, when you have acne, the last thing you want to do is put on moisturiser but your therapist can give you quite light moisturisers that don’t clog your skin. Moisturising prevents your skin from ageing! Try a mask called Claytech mask or any mask that has some sort of clay or zinc which will absorb excess oils and is quite soothing. You could also have microdermabrasion that is quite effective as it is a deeper form of “exfoliating” and therefore help reduce appearance of scars.

Dermalogica is a wonderful product, although expensive, but they have the most amazing range for oily skin. Environ is pretty good too although some peoples skin doesn’t react well with this product but over time your skin will get used to it. Nimue is also good. Try avoid french products for now, that have lots of frangrance and colour as these effect your skin too. You can also purchase Tee Tree Oil, and apply to your spots - it has an anti-bacterial effect. You can apply it throughout the day. You could also go to a dermatologist and they can put you on certain medications but be aware that some topical treatments that they prescribe can cause your skin to peel and cause redness as well (this I know from personal experience, and is not very pleasant, it can also damage skin further if not used like the instructions indicate).

If you’re a girl I found that using the pill is very effective, it completely cleared my acne. I used Diane and I swear by it. Wash your hands before you touch your face and don’t pick at your pimples (I know it’s hard!! lol) Change your pillow cases on a regular basis because the bacteria on your face can spread to other parts of your face therefore more pimples. Change your towel often. Wash your face after gyming. Eat a healthy diet, excersice, drink water, take vitamins esp in the B group - great for your skin!!!

Also there is also plenty private clinics that provide skin laser treatment which work amazingly to remove scars, but its quite expensive.I suffered with scarring on my face and back too when I had acne. I found vitamin E cream worked best for me because it wasn’t very oily and didn’t cause my acne to flair up again. It worked brilliantly. Just make sure it’s good quality and not too thick. However, if you are now totally acne free, a product called bio-oil is just magic. I also used this and it was VERY effective against the scars but because it was an oily product it only irritated my acne and i got even more spots, defying the purpose.

For face apply fresh mint juice every night to treat acne and pimples as this is a good home remedy for acne. For chest when washing your body use a loofah, sponge or exfoliant to help remove any dead skin cells that may clog up pores. Use a gentle action and don’t be too harsh otherwise you will end up breaking the skin.

Vitamin E prevents acne or pimple scarring and can also be used to fade old scars. Use cucumber or other fruit and vegetable packs to cure pimple scars.

I have suffered acne need as well. and the scars you are talking about along with it. lately i’ve been trying the lemon to lighten scars, aloe vera, and mederma. You can buy over the counter facial peels but I feel it’s too extreme for me. just go to your local walgreens and ask either the pharmacist what he recommends what you doctor should give you or they’ll help you find something in the store.

Sometimes - however, if your acne isn’t to bad just a few pimples here and there I would use Bare Essentials “Bisque” it is a powder that you can dab on. I have used it on my no make up days and it blends well into your skin and doesn’t show. It is a really cool product. Btw…It was voted best product for 2008 at sephora
