Acne products for Asian Teenagers

May 7, 2008

Many of our readers have asked:

What is the best acne product for an Asian teenager.

I think at this point, it is best recommended that you should speak with a dermatologist to see what regimen would work best with your skin type and for the exact problem you are having. It could be more than just acne and you’d hate to aggravate it or damage your skin by trying everything under the sun before going to a professional.

However, we do have some tips and tricks (submitted by our users) to try if you don’t want to go the dermatologist route. Please note - use these with caution as they are not dermatologist approved remedies.

  1. (Tinashe - Texas) - For me personally it would sound funny but I thought of using VapoRub on my acne and it really works. My friend told me to use VapoRub on pimples and when you see one coming on to dab enough VapoRub to cover it. The VapoRub actually has ingredients that quickly dry out the pimple. I had a huge zit on my forehead and it was extremely red and I quickly put VapoRub on it and the next day it was like it wasn’t even there. Another bonus is that it’s very soothing. I apply it over night and your skin is nice and moist giving you that dewy sheen. I use it now as an acne product and moisturizer. It’s amazing. Trust me, first use VapoRub for your acne and see if you see any improvement

An interesting tidbit from one of our readers…. Vaporub… who would have ever thought.

If you ttry and see good results, why not post your comments on its effectiveness

Acne Scar Products - some reviews

Many people suffer from acne scars, so we thought we’d provide some tips to the sufferers.

  • You could go to a doctor to get a Retin A or Differin gel, these are topical gels that prevent new breakouts and help with minimal scarring. You just don’t put it on the really dry areas. If you use these gels then all you need is a mild cleanser and light moisturizer like Cetaphil brand. If your parents have medical coverage then these gels can be quite inexpensive or free.
  • If you can’t or don’t want to go to a doctor, I would try any GENTLE acne skin care system that is proven to work (like Proactiv) or any other system you could find at a drug store.

For the scars there are a few scar gel patches on the market that you can get at most drugstores in the bandaid section. There will be a variety of gels and gels might be best for the face as they slowly reduce the appearance of scars and they’re not that expensive.

For covering up scars, readers have suggested the best foundation to be Double Wear by Estee Lauder. It covers small scars really well and stays put all day.

It is expensive but totally worth it. Just make sure to wash it off EVERY night without fail.

Finally if you really want to stop acne, one thing you might consider is birth control pills. Lots of girls take birth control pills for acne and heavy and painful periods. This may also help with your acne too.

This is something else to talk to your doctor about. Also, the birth control don’t dry out your combination skin.

Here’s to getting rid of acne scars forever!

Herwith some remedies For Reducing Acne Scars

  1. Apply aloe vera gel or juice to heal and prevent acne scars. Be careful when you choose your brand because most claim pure organic material. One good brand is Fruit of the Earth. If there’s hyperpigmentation, aloe vera can take time to fade them and doesn’t work too rapidly.
  2. Rosehip seed oil is another option that can work for you. It can regenerate new skin and fade the skin discoloration caused by acne scarring . Take time to massage onto scars twice daily
  3. Lavender oil is also used to promote new cell regeneration to improve acne scars . Gently massage onto affected area .
  4. Topical skin lightening creams give the fastest results and can inhibit and get rid of the melanin content that causes the hyperpigmentation

If you have acne scars, try the above and respond with some of your results.
